From September 28-29, newly printed books about peace from Africanstorybook.org were delivered to all of the TLC Children’s Peace Libraries in Rwanda. Friends Peace Teams (FPT) were very generous and offered to help cover the printing costs of all of these books. The books use language that the children will be able to easily understand, while conveying very complex messages of peace and how it can be maintained. So far, the children love listening to these books because they are often able to relate to the characters in the books, as well as the context and setting of the books. Because of this, having a group discussion after reading is very easy; the children always have a lot to say, and a lot of their own stories to share about the role that conflict resolution plays in their lives. We are so excited to continue reading these books to the children of Rwanda, and helping to grow the culture of reading and the culture of peace.
