Kigali Children’s Peace Library is a Peace promoting library under Transformational Leadership Center management in Rwanda, with the Vision of Children’s Peace Education Network of Rwanda to see a positive transformation and sustainable peace promotion Among the children of Rwanda, Located in Kicukiro District, Kagarama sector.
We are with Some students from Primary 6, where they share with us what they think of the library and what they would recommend to their fellow colleagues who don’t know about Kigali Children’s Peace Library’s Programs provided by the Transformational Leadership Center (TLC).
“My name is Umutoniwase Baraka and I am a P6 student, I usually come to the library to read the dictionary because I love learning new words and their meaning. I am glad that the library brought digital technology, and now we can do our research by using the Internet, we can access online books, and sometimes some words I can’t find in a dictionary, I can find them on Google” she said.
We asked different questions about what students like about the library programs such as Peace clubs, Peer Mediation and Read Aloud, all students were able to speak about what they think of it and what they get from it, and also encouraged others to join the program.
“I am Keza Diane and I am from P6, the program that I like is Peace club, because they teach us how to behave in the society, promoting peace and having a good relationship among us and also when there is conflict among us we know how to resolve the conflict, or if we can’t resolve it we ask for help. I would like to tell my fellow colleagues to join the program so that they can learn more about peace too” she said.
Uwase Angel is also a student from P6, she explained the reasons why she chooses the Peer mediation program.” I love Pere Mediation because it promotes unity among each other’s, it promotes togetherness among us I would like to tell my colleagues that peer mediation is very good, and I want to encourage them to join and learn good behaviors and how to live together in peace” Angel said
The Transformational Leadership Center has seven libraries in different parts of Rwanda, Kigali Children’s Peace Library is one of the libraries that is not only providing books but also providing Peace Club, Peer Mediation, and Read aloud which helps children to learn more about peace and conflict resolution.
