TLC-Rwanda, through its five Children’s Peace Libraries (Gicumbi, Burera, Musanze, Bigogwe,
and Kanzenze), joyfully celebrated International Peace Day on September 21, 2025. The true guests of honor were the children themselves, joined by their parents and local government leaders. A total of 329 children and 33 adults participated in the celebration.
The children showcased their talents through traditional dances, theatre, modern songs, poems, drawings, and interactive games such as journalism role-plays. They also participated in community service by cleaning the areas around the libraries. All these activities beautifully reflected this year’s theme: “Act now for a peaceful world.” Parents and local leaders expressed their joy at seeing how the Children’s Peace Libraries are instilling values of peace in young people. One parent shared, “We no longer fear for the future because our children are growing up with the values of peace.”During the event, TLC, in partnership with HROC, also provided health insurance for 21 people from three families. TLC Supervisor, Thérèse Mukamanzi, expressed her gratitude to all participants, reminding everyone that “the time to act for peace is now, whether in schools, homes, workplaces, or anywhere else. Each of us can plant the seed of peace by using the talents we have
